There are always exciting fashion events happening in Kent, OH because of the renowned fashion school. I love the fashion community here so much, so this week I'm sharing with you some interesting exhibits that are currently at the KSU Fashion Museum.
The first one is called Culture/Counterculture and it features fashions from the 1960's and 70's by highlighting the generation gap of that time period. This exhibit was planned perfectly for this year, because it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the May 4th shootings that happened on the Kent State Campus in 1970. It would be a very well-rounded trip to visit the May 4th museum as well as this exhibit. This exhibit is on display from now until September 6, 2020.
The next exhibit also goes along with the May 4th theme. It's called Wearing Justice and is entirely comprised of clothing created by KSU students and faculty. I love the idea of displaying the work of local designers alongside the world-famous ones in the museum. The designers created these pieces to talk about war and peace, political discourse, and social justice today. This exhibit is open to the public from now until May 31, 2020.
If you're in the Kent area or looking to plan a trip, I would keep an eye on the fashion speaker events and also the May 4th events. The university has been doing a lot to connect the two since fashion is so prevalent here. Let me know in the comments if you plan on visiting these exhibits!
